Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr Shafiqur Rahman met with Abdul Hadi Awang, the President of Malaysia’s leading Islamist party, Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS), in a significant discussion aimed at fostering collaboration for the welfare of the global Islamic community.

The meeting, held on Sunday, December 15, was described by PAS Central Executive Committee member Dr Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi as an encouraging step toward mutual cooperation.

"The meeting was conducted in a very cordial atmosphere, reflecting the deep connection between the two Islamic movements, both committed to establishing justice and promoting the welfare of the Islamic Ummah," he said.

The Jamaat delegation, led by Dr Shafiqur Rahman, included Assistant Secretaries General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan and Hamidur Rahman Azad. The team sought Abdul Hadi Awang’s insights and advice on navigating the ongoing political landscape in Bangladesh.

During the discussions, Abdul Hadi Awang shared his perspective on the importance of strategic patience, knowledge, and engaging with the masses while adhering to Islamic principles. He emphasised that resilience and wisdom are crucial in advancing an Islamic political agenda.

Dr. Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi highlighted the impact of the meeting, stating, “The Jamaat delegation deeply appreciated the President’s valuable guidance and has adopted his advice as a framework to address current political challenges in Bangladesh.”

Jamaat-e-Islami views the meeting as a potential milestone for international Islamic movements. It marks a step toward forging stronger ties between like-minded organisations, which could contribute significantly to the global development of the Islamic Ummah.
