BNP has recommended the formation of a police commission headed by the chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on home affairs to give the force correct directions, advices and support.

The party also suggested the dissolution of the Rapid Action Battalion, RAB.

BNP made the recommendations to the Police Reform Commission formed by the interim government, BNP Standing Committee member and its police reform committee chief Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed said in a press conference at the party chairperson’s Gulshan office in Dhaka on Tuesday, December 10.

“Though the government’s Police Reform Commission did not seek recommendation from BNP, we gave suggestions. Reforming this essential service (police) of the state is the demand of time. BNP recommended the formation of a police commission,” he said.

“We also recommended decreasing the distance of police with people,” he added.
