Oli returns back as name missing on CA’s guest list

Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) President Colonel (Retd.) Oli Ahmed returned from the Foreign Service Academy after discovering his name was not on the list of invitees to a dialogue with Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus.

LDP Joint Secretary General Salah Uddin Razzak confirmed the incident to Jago News.

As part of efforts to foster national unity amid the ongoing crisis, Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus sat in a meeting with political parties at the Foreign Service Academy on Wednesday (December 4). 

Oli Ahmed arrived at the Foreign Service Academy around 3:30pm, ahead of the scheduled meeting that began after 4:15pm. 

According to an LDP leader, an adviser had invited Oli Ahmed to participate in the dialogue. However, upon reaching the entrance, he was informed that his name was not on the official list. Disheartened, he left the venue.

Despite efforts by Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan to contact both Oli Ahmed and LDP Secretary General Dr Redwan Ahmed afterward, neither returned to the meeting.

According to Razzak, Adilur Rahman Khan had invited both Oli Ahmed and Redwan Ahmed the previous night to discuss the country’s pressing issues with the Chief Adviser. The absence of their names on the guest list at the event remains unexplained.

"The government can better clarify why their names were omitted," Razzak said, expressing disappointment over the incident.

The meeting, aimed at uniting political parties and civil society, continued without LDP representation. Attendees included delegations from BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, Gana Sanghati Andolan, BSD, Democratic Left Unity, Nationalist Like-Minded Alliance, NDM, AB Party, and Khilafat Majlis.

Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam highlighted the goal of the dialogue, saying:

"In the current situation, the Chief Adviser is urging national unity among political parties, civil society, and student leaders."
