A Dhaka court has placed former law minister Anisul Huq on a five-day remand in connection with the murder of garment worker Fazlul Karim.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Imran Ahmmed issued the remand order after Detective Branch (DB) police inspector Md Mahmudur Rahman, the case's investigating officer, sought a ten-day remand during a hearing.

According to case documents, Fazlul Karim was injured by gunfire while participating in the anti-discrimination student movement on August 5. He was admitted to Kuwait Maitree Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Following the incident, Fazlul's brother filed a case with Uttara Purba police station in Dhaka, naming 40 individuals as suspects.

On August 13, Anisul Huq was arrested from the Sadarghat area of the capital during an alleged attempt to escape.
