HC scraps Babar's 8 years' jail sentence

The High Court has acquitted former state minister for home Lutfozzaman Babar from charges and scrapped his eight years’ jail sentence in a graft case.

The single bench of Justice Kamrul Hossain Molla delivered the verdict on Wednesday (October 23) after a hearing in this regard.

Earlier on October 12, 2021, Dhaka Special Judges Court-7 sentenced Babar to eight years in jail in the case filed for amassing Tk 7.5 crore illegally and hiding information about it.

On January 13, 2008, the Anti-Corruption Commission, ACC, filed the case against him.
