Kamal Ahmed on 3-day remand in murder case

A Dhaka court has granted a three-day remand for former State Minister for Industries and ruling Awami League lawmaker for the Dhaka-15 constituency, Kamal Ahmed Mojumder, in a case filed over the murder of Ikramul Haque in the capital’s Shah Ali Thana area.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Haider passed the order on Saturday after the investigation officer of the case produced Kamal before the court with a seven-day remand request.

Earlier, on Friday night, Kafrul police arrested Kamal Ahmed in the Gulshan area of the capital.

Ikramul was shot during the anti-discrimination student movement in Mirpur-10 on August 4. He was later taken to Combined Military Hospital, where he died on August 14.

Ikramul’s father, Ziaul Haque, filed a murder case with Shah Ali Police Station on September 7.
