A Dhaka court has placed former Agriculture Minister Dr Md Abdur Razzaque on a two-day remand in a case over the murder of a trader in the capital during the Anti-Discrimination Students Movement.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbubul Haque passed the order on Tuesday (October 15) after the police had produced him before the court, seeking a seven-day remand.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police, DMP, arrested him, also Awami League presidium member, in the capital’s Eskaton area on Monday night (October 14).

Abdul Wadud, a trader, was shot dead by the police in Nilkhet area under the New Market police station on July 19 during the Anti-Discrimination Students Movement.

Later, the victim’s brother-in-law Abdur Rahman filed a case against 130 individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and former Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, over the killing.
