Sweschasebak Dal leader murder: Anisul on two-day remand
A Dhaka court has placed former Law Minister Anisul Huq on a fresh two-day remand in a case related to the murder of Sweschasebak Dal leader Al Amin, who was killed during the anti-discrimination student movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Nurul Huda Chowdhury granted the remand after the investigation officer presented him before the court on Monday.
According to the case statement, police opened fire on a procession organised by students and civilians in the Badda area of the capital on August 5, following the fall of the Awami League government. Al Amin was seriously injured and later died while undergoing treatment. His mother, Monihar Begum, filed a murder case at Badda police station.
On August 13, Anisul was arrested from the Sadarghat area of the capital during an alleged escape attempt. The following day, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mamunur Rashid placed Anisul on a 10-day remand in a separate case involving the killing of shop staff member Shahjahan Ali in the New Market area.
