The interim government has suspended the jail sentence of Zubaida Rahman, the wife of BNP’s acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, in a graft case.

The Public Security Division of the Home Ministry issued the suspension order in a notification on Sunday (September 29).

Her sentence was suspended for a year on a condition of filing an appeal after surrendering before the court, according to the notification.

On August 2 this year, a Dhaka court sentenced Tarique Rahman and Zubaida Rahman to nine, and three years in jail respectively in the case.

The Anti-Corruption Commission, ACC, filed the case against them with the Kafrul police station in the capital on September 26, 2007, on allegations of amassing illegal wealth of around Tk 4.81 crore and concealing information about the asset.
