Mansur detained at airport after returning from Canada
Sultan Muhammed Mansur Ahmed, a Member of Parliament from the Moulvibazar-2 constituency, was detained at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Monday morning upon his return from Canada.
Rezaul Karim Mollik, the chief of the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, confirmed the detention to Jago News.
He stated, "We detained him from the immigration section of the airport due to some allegations against him. We will interrogate him and verify the allegations. A decision will be made regarding legal action afterward."
According to family sources, Sultan Mansur had been traveling in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Canada for an extended period. He had been out of the country long before the student movement. As of now, there is no case against him.
Born on January 1, 1951, in Kulaura, Moulvibazar, Sultan Mansur was the Vice President of the Dhaka University Students’ Union (DUCSU).
He was elected as a Member of Parliament from the Moulvibazar-2 constituency in the 11th national parliamentary election with the BNP electoral symbol ‘Paddy Sheaf.’
