Juba League leader lynched in Noakhali
A local Juba League leader was lynched and three others were injured by a mob in Noakhali on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Md Abdus Shahid, 43, a member of the convening committee of the Charmutua Union unit of Juba League. There are eight cases against him at the police station, including charges of possession of weapons, robbery, and snatching. He is listed as a terrorist in police records.
The injured individuals are Jamal, 4, Jabed, 28, and Riad, 28.
Locals reported that news spread about a terrorist named Abdus Shahid, along with three accomplices, hiding in a house with weapons and ammunition. Later, residents surrounded the house and gave all four a public beating. Upon receiving the news, the army, led by Captain Iftekhar Ahmed of the 16th Field Regiment Artillery, along with the police, arrived at the scene. The four individuals, including one with a shotgun, were handed over to them.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sudharam Model Police Station, Mir Zahedul Haque Rony, told Jago News that the four individuals, along with their weapons, were rescued from the enraged mob and admitted to Noakhali General Hospital. Abdus Shahid, who was detained, died around 8:00 pm while receiving treatment.
