A Dhaka court has put former Information Minister and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal President Hasanul Haque Inu on a four-day remand in a case over the murder of a student during the Anti-Discrimination Students' Movement.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehera Mahbub passed the order on Sunday after the police had produced him before the court, seeking a seven-day remand for fair investigation.

Khalid Hasan Saifullah, a first-year student of Ideal College, Dhamondi, was shot dead at Azimpur government officers’ colony on July 18 during the Anti-Discrimination Students' Movement.

On August 19, his father Kamrul Hasan filed a case against 52 individuals with the Lalbagh police station in this connection. Inu is an accused in the case.

Earlier on August 26, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Hasanul Haque Inu in the capital's Uttara.

Apart from this case, he was named in several other cases filed on various allegations, including murder.
