Ex-Minister Anwar Hossain Monju arrested

The Detective Branch of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested former minister and chairman of Jatiya Party (JP) Anwar Hossain Monju from the Dhanmondi area of the capital on Monday afternoon.

Rabiul Hossain Bhuiyan, Joint Commissioner of the DMP (DB-North), confirmed the matter to Jago News. 

He said there are five cases including murder case filed against him. He was taken to DB office and is being interrogated. 

Monju was elected as a Member of Parliament from Pirojpur-2 constituency six times. He served as a communication minister, water resources minister and fuel and mineral resources minister.

Additionally, he was the editor of Daily Ittefaq from 1972 to 1975.
