College student murder: Haji Salim on 5-day remand

A Dhaka court has placed Haji Mohammad Salim, a former Awami League lawmaker from the Dhaka-8 constituency, on a five-day remand in a case filed for killing the Idea College student Hasan Saifullah. 

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Aktaruzzman on Monday passed the order after the investigation officer of the case produced him before the court with a ten-day remand prayer. 

Earlier on Sunday night, he was arrested from the Bangshal area in the capital.

On July 18, Hasan Saifullah died after being shot during the recent student movement. His father filed a murder case against 52 including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Haji Salim on August 19.
