The semi-decomposed body of Awami League leader Ishaque Ali Khan Panna was discovered in the Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya, India.

The body was found on August 26 in a betel nut plantation approximately 1.5 kilometers from the Indo-Bangladesh border, according to reports from PTI.

Panna, a former general secretary of the Bangladesh Chhatra League, was identified through his passport, as confirmed by SP Giri Prasad of Meghalaya police.

The body was taken to Khliehriat Civil Hospital for further examination and verification.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Panna may have suffered a cardiac arrest while attempting to cross the border into India. However, the exact cause of death remains undetermined pending the results of the autopsy. The investigation is ongoing, and more details regarding the circumstances of his death are expected to emerge.
