A Dhaka court has granted police five days to interrogate Workers Party President and former lawmaker, Rashed Khan Menon, in a murder case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Haider passed the order on Friday after the police had produced him before the court, seeking a 10-day remand.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police, DMP, detained Menon from Gulshan in the capital on Thursday.

Later, he was shown arrested in a case filed with the New Market police station over the murder of a businessman named Abdul Wadud in the police station area during the recent Anti-Discrimination Students' Movement.

Recently, he has been named in several cases, including one on the allegations of making derogatory remarks on BNP founder Ziaur Rahman's family.
