DMP arrests Rashed Khan Menon from Gulshan

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police, DMP, arrested Workers Party President and former lawmaker, Rashed Khan Menon, from Gulshan in the capital on Thursday.

Obaidur Rahman, additional deputy commissioner of DMP's media and public relations wing, confirmed the arrest.

However, the DMP could not confirm under which case he was apprehended.

A case was filed against Menon with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saiful Islam today on allegations of making derogatory remarks on BNP founder Ziaur Rahman's family.

Later, the court asked the Police Bureau of Investigation, PBI, to investigate into the accusations.
