Firing from RAB helicopter: Hasina, Justice Khairul face murder charge

A case has been filed with a Dhaka court against five people, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and former Chief Justice ABM Khairul Haque, over the murder of a man in a firing from a helicopter in Mirpur during the recent student movement.

Other accused in the case are Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan and former Inspector General of Police, IGP, Chowdhury Al Mamun.

Reshma Sultana, wife of the victim, Firoz Talukder, filed the case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mehedi Hasan on Wednesday.

Later, the court accepted her statement and asked the officer-in-charge of the Mirpur model police station to take the lawsuit as a statement.

During Anti-Discrimination Students’ Movement, Firoz, an office assistant at a private company, died after being hit by bullet fired from a helicopter of the Rapid Action Battalion, RAB, in Mirpur-10 intersection on July 19.
