Dipu Moni, Arif Khan shown arrested in murder case
Former Social Welfare Minister Dipu Moni and former Deputy Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Arif Khan Joy have been shown arrested in a murder case filed with Mohammadpur police station.
Obaidur Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Media and Public Relations Department of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, confirmed the matter on Tuesday morning.
He said Dipu Moni was arrested from Baridhara area while Arif Khan was arrested from Dhanmondi area in the capital on Monday night. They both were shown arrested in a case filed with Mohammadpur police station. They will be produced before the court with a remand prayer.
Dipu Moni was elected Member of Parliament for four consecutive terms from Chandpur-3 constituency with a ticket from Awami League. She served as Foreign Minister, Education Minister and Social Welfare Minister.
On the other hand, Arif Khan was elected Member of Parliament from Netrokona-2 constituency with a ticket from Awami League. He served as Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Ministry from 2014 to 2018.
He was a professional football player. He played as a midfielder for Dhaka Abahani and the Bangladesh national team. He has success in football.
