Hasina, Quader, Shamim sued for killing fish trader
A case has been filed against 62 people, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, former road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader, former lawmaker Shamim Osman in connection with the murder of fish trader Milon in Narayanganj’s Siddhirganj during the recent student movement.
The deceased’s wife, Shahnaz Begum, filed the murder case with Siddhirganj police station on Sunday night.
Mohammad Abu Taher, Officer-in-charge of the police station, confirmed the matter to Jago News at 1am on Monday.
Shamim Osman’s son Ayon Osman, his nephew Azmeri Osman, Narayanganj City Corporation’s councillor Motiur Rahman Moti, Shahjalal Badal, Nur Uddin Miah, Ruhul Amin, Iftekhar Alam Khokon, Siddhirganj thana Awami League President Mujibur Rahman and its general secretary Yeasin were also accused in the case.
The deceased Milon, a native of Jatka village in Dumki upazila, Patuakhali, used to trade fish in the Siddhirganj area.
On July 21, Milon and his his two nephews were going to a fish market via the Shimrail intersection on the Dhaka-Chittagong Road. At that time, activists of the Awami League, Juba League, and Chhatra League opened fire on students and the general people by order of Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader, and Shamim Osman. Milon was hit by a bullet in the chest and was taken to a local hospital. His condition deteriorated, and he was transferred to Pro-Active Medical College Hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment around 12:30 am on July 22.
