Hasina, Shamim Osman, Salim Osman face murder charge
A case has been filed against 248 individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and former MP Shamim Osman, over the murder of a man in Narayanganj during the recent quota reform protests.
Other accused include Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, former Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, former State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zuanid Ahmed Palak, Shamim Osman’s brother former Jatiya Party lawmaker Salim Osman, and Narayanganj AL secretary Abul Hasnat Md Shahid.
Abul Bashar Anik, brother of the deceased, Abul Hasan Sajan, filed the case with Sadar Model Police Station on Saturday night, said the police station’s officer-in-charge, Abdus Satter.
Hours before the resignation of Sheikh Hasina as prime minister and escape from the country on August 5, Abul Hasan Sajan, a private sector employee, was shot by the Chhatra League and Juba League men in Chashara of Narayanganj, according to the case statement.
Later, he succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
