Firing from helicopter: Hasina sued for killing child
A case has been filed against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and fifteen others for allegedly shooting a 12-year-old madrasa student Zobaid Hossain Emon dead from a helicopter of Rapid Action Battalion.
Emon’s uncle filed the case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury on Thursday.
The court recorded the statement of the plaintiff and ordered Mohammadpur police station to register the complaint as a First Information Report (FIR).
This is the fifth case filed against Sheikh following her resignation as Prime Minister in the wake of the mass uprising on August 5.
The other accused are former Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, former Law Minister Anisul Huq, former Local Government and Rural Development Minister Tazul Islam, former Textiles and Jute Minister Jahangir Kabir Nanak, former Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud, former State Minister for Information Affairs Mohammad Arafat Ali, former PM’s adviser Salman F Rahman, former Member of the Parliament Mostofa Jalal Mohiuddin, former Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, former Additional IGP and RAB Director General Harun-or-Rashid, former DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman, former Additional IGP (Crime and Operations) Kh Mohiuddin, former DB chief Harun-or-Rashid and former Joint Commissioner Biplob Kumar Sarker.
Unnamed individuals of RAB’s helicopter patrol team were also accused in the case.
Emon was killed by shots fired from a RAB helicopter during the student protests on July 19.
