Asif Nazrul bins news of president's resignation

The interim government’s adviser for law, justice, and parliamentary affairs, Asif Nazrul, has dismissed reports that President Mohammed Shahabuddin has resigned, calling them false and mere rumours.

In a post on his verified Facebook page on Thursday (August 15) morning, Professor Asif Nazrul wrote, "Some misinformation is being spread using my name. The news that the president has resigned, being circulated with my photograph, is fake.”

Earlier, on Wednesday, the law adviser announced that all judiciary officials and their family members must submit their wealth statements within the next 10 working days.

"In consultation with the Supreme Court, I have ordered all judicial officials and their family members to submit the accounting statements of their immovable and movable properties located in the country and abroad within the next 10 working days," he said.

Asif Nazrul also mentioned that initiatives have been taken to improve the environment of subordinate courts, including a ban on the use of plastic products. "It will take some time to implement, but the instructions have already been issued," he added.

He further announced that all harassment cases filed against those involved in the student quota reform movement will be withdrawn by August 31.
