Rizvi, Parwar, Nur on 8-day remand
A Dhaka court on Sunday placed eight people, including BNP’s senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Jamaat-e-Islami’s secretary general Mia Golam Parwar, and Gono Odhikar Parishad’s president Nurul Haque Nur, on a five-day remand in a case over the attack on metrorail.
Five other accused are BNP’s organising secretary Kazi Sayedul Alam Babul, publicity secretary Sultan Salauddin Tuku, Dhaka North City unit’s member secretary Aminul Haque, Bagerhat unit’s convener MA Salam, and activist Mahmudus Salehin.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mainul Islam passed the order after a hearing.
Earlier on Friday, the investigation officer, inspector Md Asaduzzaman Munshi, sought a 10-day remand against them, and the court set today for hearing.
Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited’s MRT Line-6 deputy director (administration), Md Imam Uddin Kabir, filed the case with Kafrul Police Station.
The case statement said 5,000/6,000 miscreants equipped with sticks, rod, hockey sticks and locally made weapons vandalised and torched Kazipara station of Dhaka Metrorail on July 19. in direct and indirect instigation of the anti-government parties and organisations.
