Sohel, Tuku among 500 sued for attack on police
A total of 500 leaders and activists of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on charge of attack on police in Dhaka.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Habib Un Nabi Khan Sohel, Dhaka city north unit Convener Saiful Alam Nirab and central Publicity Secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, Juba Dal General Secretary Nurul Islam Noyon and Jatiyatabadi Chhtra Dal President Rakibul Islam Manik are among the accused.
Sub Inspector Alaul Haque filed the case against 35 named and 465 unnamed leaders and activists of BNP with Paltan Model Police Station on Thursday.
Monir Hossain Molla, Officer-in-charge of the police station, confirmed the matter.
According to the case statement, 400-500 BNP leaders and activists hurled brick chips at police following a gayebana janaza (funeral in absentia) at Baitul Mukarram Mosque on Wednesday. Several police members including the OC of the police station were injured in the incident. The BNP men also exploded cocktails and vandalized some vehicles.
