BCL, anti-quota protesters to hold counter programmes today
The students, who are protesting to reform the quota system in government jobs, will hold protest processions and rallies at all universities across the country at 3pm on Tuesday in response to Monday’s attack on them by the leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).
On the other hand, the BCL will hold a rally at Raju Memorial Sculpture at Dhaka University at 1:30pm protesting the attack on their leaders and activists.
Nahid Islam, Coordinator of anti-discriminatory student movement, announced their protest programme at Doyel Chhattar area in Dhaka around 9:35pm on Monday.
He said, after that, if necessary, a blockade will be announced across the country.
He urged the general people to joint their movement.
In a statement issued on Monday night, BCL President Saddam Hossain said they will hold a rally protesting the defamation of the Independence and the attack on general students and their organization’s leaders and activists.
Earlier on Monday, at least 300 students were injured in a clash between the BCL activists and anti-quota protesters at Dhaka University. Additional police members were deployed on the campus to control untoward situation.
