Bangladesh's existence has been endangered: Fakhrul
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said the existence of Bangladesh has been endangered.
"Today Bangladesh's existence has been endangered. No one of the deals and MoUs (signed with India) are in favor of Bangladesh," he said.
He said this at a human chain formed in front of the party's Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka on Thursday.
Nari O Shishu Odhikar Forum organized the program demanding BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's unconditional release.
Mirza Fakhrul also urged the government not to ink such agreements and MoUs fooling people that go against people's interests.
Questioning the achievements of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from her recent visit to India, he said, "There is no mention of water anywhere. What was mentioned is alarming. India gave a good proposal for the Teesta agreement and China also gave. Sheikh Hasina said she will see which is better between the two."
Fakhrul said she also mentioned if India is given the work it proposed, the water problem will be resolved. "Are we all fools living in the country? On the contrary, you (PM) canceled the Teesta water-sharing problem and the issue of water sharing from common rivers. Now you are making Bangladesh hostage completely."
