Khaleda Zia to be taken to hospital for check-up this evening
Former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia will be taken to the capital’s Evercare Hospital on Wednesday evening for a health checkup.
“Khaleda Zia will be taken to the Evercare Hospital on Wednesday evening for a health checkup as per the advice of her medical board,” the BNP chairperson’s press wing member Shamsuddin Didar told Jago News on Tuesday midnight.
Earlier on March 31, Khaleda Zia was admitted to Evercare Hospital as per the suggestion of her medical board and returned back home on April 2 after necessary health checkup.
The 78-year-old former prime minister has long been suffering from various ailments, including liver cirrhosis, arthritis, diabetes, and issues related to kidney, lung, heart, and eye.
She was sent to the old Dhaka jail after a lower court had sentenced her to five years’ imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case on February 8, 2018. Later in the same year, she was found guilty in another corruption case.
Amid the Coronavirus outbreak, the government temporarily freed Khaleda Zia from jail through an executive order suspending her sentence on March 25, 2020, with the condition that she stay in her Gulshan house and not leave the country. That has since been extended multiple times to keep her out of jail.
