BNP leader Altaf Hossain gets bail, no bar to release
A Dhaka court has granted bail to BNP vice-chairman Air Vice Marshal (retd) Altaf Hossain Choudhury in a case lodged over attack on the official residence of Chief Justice (CJ) during BNP’s grand rally in the capital’s Nayapaltan area on October 28.
Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sultan Sohag Uddin passed the order on Thursday.
His lawyer said there is no legal bar for his release from jail as he secured bail in total 4 cases filed against him centering BNP’s October 28 rally.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on November 5 arrested Altaf Hossain, also former Home Minister, from Tongi area in Gazipur.
On December 28, he was sentenced to 21 months in jail by a Dhaka court in a case filed at Gulshan police station over sabotage.
