AL's Nilufar Anjum Poppy wins Mymensingh-3

Awami League nominated candidate Nilufar Anjum Poppy has won the Mymensingh-3 (Gouripur) seat after fresh voting in a center that was suspended on allegations of irregularities and violence during the January 7 national polls.

She bagged 54,490 votes to defeat her nearest rival Somnath Saha, an independent candidate, who got 52,566 votes, upazila election officer Mohammad Faruk Mia told Jago News on Saturday evening.

Bhalukapur Government Primary School polling station, which was suspended, today saw 1,677 votes out of 3,032 were cast.

Voting in the center began at 8 am and ended at 4 pm without any chaos, said Mohammad Nahidul Karim, Gouripur upazila assistant returning officer.

Earlier on January 7, voting in the center was suspended after allegations that miscreants snatched ballot boxes from there.
