The verdict against BNP Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas in a case filed for allegedly amassing illegal wealth has been deferred to December 28.

Today (Tuesday) was scheduled for the pronouncement of the verdict but Judge Manjurul Imam of Dhaka Special Judge Court-6 deferred it to December 28 as it was not prepared.

Lawyer Mahmud Hossain Jahangir for the Anti-Corruption Commission confirmed the matter.

Earlier, the same court fixed November 30 to deliver the verdict but it was deferred to December 12.

BSS adds: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on August 16, 2007, filed the case with Ramna Police Station for allegedly amassing wealth of Tk 7.54 crore illegally and concealing information about wealth of Tk 57.26 lakh.

ACC assistant director Md Khairul Huda after probing the case filed a charge sheet on May 24, 2008, accusing Abbas of amassing wealth of Tk 4.23 crore illegally.

The court on June 16, 2008, framed charges against Mirza Abbas.
