54 BNP men, 1 Jamaat leader jailed in sabotage cases
Some 54 BNP men and a leader of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami have been sentenced to jail for different terms for committing subversive acts in capital Dhaka.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sultan Shohag Uddin on Tuesday sentenced 16 BNP leaders and activists to six months in jail in a sabotage case filed with Bangshal Police Station in October of 2013.
Dhaka South City unit Jubo Dal organizing secretary Ishaq Ali Sarker is among the convicts.
In another sabotage case filed with Dakshin Khan Police Station in September of 2018, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Mainul Islam jailed 38 BNP men for four years.
In an arson attack case filed with Kafrul Police Station on March 21, 2013, Jamaat's Central Majlish-e-Shura member and Dhaka North City assistant secretary Lashker Mohammad Taslim received a two-year jail sentence.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Tariqul Islam handed down the verdict.
