BNP, allies’ 48-hour blockade underway
The 48-hour countrywide blockade called by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its allies is underway demanding polls under a non-party interim government.
The blockade began at 6am on Wednesday and will continue till at 6am on Friday.
The vehicular movement was thin on the roads in the capital in the morning.
People were seen waiting for vehicles in different parts of the capital including Rampura, Malibagh, Paltan and Motijheel.
The law enforcing members were seen vigilant to control untoward situation.
Earlier on Monday afternoon, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Senior Joint Secretary General of the BNP, announced the blockade programme at a virtual press briefing.
