BNP’s fifth phase of countrywide blockade begins
BNP and other opposition parties’ 48-hour blockade of road, rail and waterways started from 6am on Wednesday. The fifth-phase blockade will end at 6am on Friday.
BNP Senior Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the fresh programme on Monday to press home their one-point demand to hold the next election under a neutral government.
Vehicles of the newspapers or media, ambulances, and vehicles transporting oxygen cylinders and medicines will remain out of the purview of the blockade, Rizvi said in a virtual briefing.
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and other political parties and alliances followed BNP to announce that they would also hold the blockade programme simultaneously.
