HC grants bail to 3 BNP leaders over Oct 28 violence
The High Court has granted a three-week interim bail to three BNP leaders in two separate cases over the attack on the residence of Chief Justice and violence on the day of BNP's October 28 grand rally.
They are BNP Vice Chairman and Senior lawyer Advocate Joynul Abedin, Advocate Nitai Roy Chowdhury and Joint Secretary General Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokan.
The HC bench of Justice Abu Taher Md Saifur Rahman and Justice Md Bashir Ullah passed the order on Tuesday after a primary hearing.
The court also asked them to surrender before Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court after three weeks.
An attack was carried out on the residence of Chief Justice at Kakrail in the capital before BNP's October 28 grand rally at Nayapaltan.
Later, two cases were filed against 59 BNP leaders and activists, including Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee Members Mirza Abbas and Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, with Ramna Police Station over the attack.
