Govt must take responsibility if Saturday rally obstructed: Fakhrul
Mentioning that the Saturday grand rally will be held at Nayapaltan, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has warned the government will have to take full responsibility if the program is obstructed.
He made the warning in a press conference at the party's Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka on Friday morning.
In reply to a query from journalists, Mirza Fakhrul said, "Police have nothing to give permission. Holding a rally is our constitutional right and our rally will be peaceful completely."
He said, "We want to give a message to the government through the October 28 (Saturday) grand rally. This government will be forced to accept the demand of a caretaker government."
Mentioning that BNP has not received letter from Dhaka Metropolitan Police yet, he said, "We hope they won't obstruct Saturday grand rally rather will cooperate with us."
Terming the current government fascist and illegal, he said the elections will never be fair in the country if the government remains in power. So, the government must resign, parliament will have to be dissolved and the demand of caretaker government must be accepted."
