Swechchasebak League leader killed in factional clash in Cumilla

A Swechchasebak League (SL) leader was killed and ten others were injured in a clash between two factions of Awami League at Meghna Challibhanga Bazar area in Cumilla on Monday morning. 

The deceased was identified as Md Nizam Sarker, 35, president of Challibhanga union unit of SL. 

The injured are Md Titu, 30, Md Romjan, 35, Md Ibrahim, 28, Md Shakil, 22, Md Wasim, 35, Md Khaled Hasan, 19, Md Delwar, 32, Md Anis Sarker, 25, Md Sumon, 24 and Md Hanif, 45. 

The injured were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Nizam’s friend Nizamuddin said eleven people were injured in the clash between the supporters of AL lawmaker Selina Akter Merry and Meghna upazila chairman Md Shafiq around 8am. The injured were taken to DMCH where Nizam died. 

Confirming the matter to Jago News, Inspector Md Bachchu Miah, DMCH police camp in-charge, said body of the deceased was kept at the hospital. The concerned police station was informed about the matter.
