BNP hatching conspiracy to bring unelected govt to power: Qamrul

Awami League (AL) Presidium Member Advocate Qamrul Islam on Tuesday said BNP is hatching conspiracy at national and international level to bring an unelected government to state power in the country.

"BNP does not want to see Bangladesh's advancement. They always hatch conspiracy and wants to pull back the country," he told a discussion as the chief guest organized by Joy Bangla Oykko Mancha at Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka.

He said the incumbent government did not file any case against Dr Yunus rather he is facing a legal process with allegations of cheating with the labourers and tax evasion. 

Deferent country's nobel laureates protested in the matter, it is a naked intervention on judicial system of an independence country, they can't talk about the case adjourned, he added.

With chairman of the organization Prof Dr Abdul Mannan Chowdhury in the chair, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Jatiya Press Club General Secretary and Bhorer Kagoj Editor Shyamal Dutta, former General Secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League Ismat Kadir Gamma, Prof Dr Wahiduzzaman Chan, former General Secretary of Dhaka City South Unit of Awami League Shah-e-Alam Murad and Joy Bangla Oykko Mancha General Secretary Nazma Kowsar.
