Gono Odhikar Parishad leader Moshiur sent to jail

A court in Dhaka on Saturday sent Moshiur Rahman, former joint member secretary of Gono Odhikar Parishad, to jail in a case lodged on charges of assaulting the police during a protest in 2021.

He was presented before the court today after a one-day remand.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shakil Ahmed passed the order to send him to jail after the investigating officer of the case- DB SI Khan Moniruzzaman pleaded to keep him behind bars until the investigation is over.

Earlier on March 27 in 2021, a case was lodged against him with Motijheel Police Station for entering into a clash with the policemen during a protest held against the arrival of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was visiting Bangladesh on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of Independence.
