BNP begins march to press home its one-point demand
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Tuesday started its road march programme in the capital to realise its one-point demand for polls under a non-party interim government.
The leaders and activists of the party began the march from Gabtoli around 11:15am. They will end the march at Bahadur Shah Park.
Earlier, a brief rally was held at Gabtoli where BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir spoke as a chief guest.
BNP Standing Committee members Abdul Moeen Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Advisory Council members Joynul Abedin Faruk and Dhaka city south unit convener Abdus Salam were, among others, present.
Dhaka city north unit BNP convener Amanullah Aman presided over the rally.
However, BNP’s like-minded political parties also started the road march in different parts of the capital.
On 12 July, BNP Secretary General formally announced a 'one-point' movement with the goal to remove Awami League from power to hold the upcoming national elections under a neutral government.
As part of the first programme to realise the one-point demand, he also announced a two-day countrywide march programme for 18 and 19 July.
