'Death threat' to PM: HC directs not to remand Chand
The High Court has directed not to place Rajshahi district unit BNP convener Abu Sayeed Chand on remand in cases filed in different districts on an allegation of making a death threat to the Prime Minister.
The HC bench of Justice KM Kamrul Kader and Justice Md Shawkat Ali Chowdhury on Sunday passed the order after hearing a writ petition challenging the legality of taking Chand in remand custody.
Earlier on May 25, police arrested Abu Sayeed Chand in Rajshahi for allegedly issuing a death threat to Prime Minister at a party program on May 19.
Later, a video of his speech went viral on social media.
