Nur president, Rashed gen secy of Gono Odhikar Parishad faction

Nurul Haque Nur was elected president of a faction of Gono Odhikar Parishad while Muhammad Rashed Khan became general secretary at the party’s first national council.

The election of the National Council was held at the party’s central office at Pritam Zaman Tower in Purana Paltan from 1pm to 5pm on Monday. The election result was announced at 10:15pm. 

A total of 216 councillors and delegates from across the country cast their votes.

Three candidates contested for the post of president including Nur, Bayezid Hossain Shahed and Nazmul-us-Saqib. Meanwhile, five including Rashed contested for general secretary.

Nur was the member secretary of the party and Rashed was the acting convener.

As many as 18 candidates contested for eight posts in the higher council of the party.

The winning candidates for higher council are: Abu Hanif, Shakiluzzaman, Hanif Khan Sajib, Shahidul Islam Fahim, Fatema Tasneem, Abduj Zaher, Sarkar Noor-e-Ershad Siddiqui and Jasim Uddin Akash.
