Journo Nadeem murder: Local AL leader Babu suspended
Mahmudul Alam Babu, Awami League’s General Secretary of Sadhurpara union at Bakshiganj upazila in Jamalpur and the chairman of the union parishad, has been suspended temporarily from the party over the murder of journalist Golam Rabbani Nadeem.
The decision was confirmed in a press release signed by the upazila AL President Nur Shahina Begum and General Secretary Ismail on Friday night.
Babu has been suspended temporarily from the post of the union AL general secretary for his alleged involvement in Nadeem murder and breaking the party’s discipline, the press release said.
He has been asked to appear in person and give a written reply within seven days as to why he should not be expelled permanently, it added.
Bakshiganj AL President Nur Shahina Begum confirmed the matter to Jago News.
Jago News could not reach the suspended leader over phone as it was switched off.
Journalist Nadeem, Jamalpur district correspondent of online news portal Banglanews24.com, died on Thursday, a day after he was injured in an attack by miscreants.
Locals and family sources said miscreants attacked Nadeem in Pathati area of Bakshiganj Bazar in the district on Wednesday night on his way home after professional duty.
His wife Monira Begum alleged that the men of Sadhurpara UP chairman Babu carried out the attack on him over publishing news.
