'Death threat' to PM: BNP leader Chand put on 2-day remand
Rajshahi district unit BNP convener Abu Sayeed Chand arrested over an alleged death threat to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been placed on a two-day remand.
Dhaka's Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Hasibul Haque passed the remand order on Wednesday.
Earlier this morning, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Ahmed granted a plea to show him arrested in a case filed with Chawkbazar Police Station in the capital after police had produced him before the court.
A leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League named Ashiqur Rahman filed the case on May 25.
Police arrested Abu Sayeed Chand in Rajshahi on May 25 after he allegedly issued a death threat to Prime Minister at his party program on May 19.
Later, a video of his speech went viral on social media.
