BNP leader Chand put on 5-day remand
Rajshahi district unit BNP convener Abu Sayeed Chand arrested over an alleged death threat to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been placed on a five-day remand.
Rajshahi District and Sessions Judge Judicial Magistrate Court Judge Mahbub Alam passed the remand order on Thursday afternoon, his lawyer advocate Jalal Uddin told Jago News.
Earlier this morning, police arrested him from the check post of Bheripara intersection in the district, Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) Commissioner Anisur Rahman confirmed to Jago News.

Later, a press conference regarding the arrest of Chand was held at RMP Headquarters around 11:45am.
RMP Commissioner, at the press conference, said they conducted drives in different parts of the city to arrest Chand. He was arrested around 11:15am while he was trying to flee the city by a private car. He is accused in four cases.
Earlier on May 19, Chand allegedly issued a death threat to Prime Minister at his party programme. Later, a video of his speech went viral on social media.
