SQ’s son Hummam gets bail

A Dhaka court on Sunday granted bail to detained Hummam Quader Chowdhury, son of war crime condemned convict and BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury, in an attempt to murder case filed seven years ago.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Kaisarul Islam granted the bail after the hearing of the case.

Earlier, police arrested Hummam Quader Chowdhury from Dhanmondi in the city on Saturday.

Dhanmondi Police Station officer-in-charge Noor-a-Azam said a police team arrested Humman from his residence at Road 10/A Dhanmondi around 10:30 am as a warrant for his arrest was pending in a criminal case filed against him.

The case was filed with Gulshan Police Station on July 25, 2008 in connection with violence.

After his arrest, Humman was produced before the  Chief Judicial Magistrate Court and it asked to send him to jail.

On July 29, the Supreme Court upheld the verdict of the International Crimes Tribunal-1 (ICT-1) that had condemned his father Salauddin Quader Chowdhury to death for committing crimes against humanity, including rape and mass killing, during the Liberation War, 43 years ago.
