Trial begins against BNP leader Dulu in tax-evasion case
A Dhaka court on Sunday framed charges against Central Organising Secretary of BNP Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu in a tax evasion case filed by the National Board of Revenue (NBR).
Judge Md Akhtaruzzaman of Dhaka Special Judge Court-2 framed the charges against him and fixed May 14 for the next hearing.
According to the case, Dulu evaded tax of Tk 10 lakh imposed on his income (around 2.35 crore) in 1983.
On August 3 of 2008, Assistant Tax Commissioner of the NBR Hafiz Al Asad filed the case against him.
He was accused of giving false information about his real income and concealing expenditures to the Income Tax Department.
