HC grants interim bail to 55 Jamalpur BNP men

The High Court has granted interim bail to 55 leaders and activists of Jamalpur's Sadar upazila unit BNP in three separate cases over alleged subversive acts during the party's nationwide march program at the union level on February 11.

The HC bench of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Md Aminul Islam on Wednesday passed the order giving them a six-month interim bail after separate hearings.

Supreme Court lawyer Md Selim Mia who represented the accused confirmed the matter to Jago News.

He said three separate cases were filed with Jamalpur Sadar Police Station against the 55 BNP men for allegedly obstructing police doing their tasks and committing subversive acts during the party's march program at the union level on February 11.

Later, a petition was lodged with the High Court seeking interim bail for the 55 BNP leaders and activists, he added.
