BNP Senior Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said his party remained firm in its position to hold December 10 mass rally at Nayapaltan in capital Dhaka.

He said this on Tuesday after Dhaka Metropolitan Police had sent a letter to him allowing BNP to hold the rally at Suhrawardy Udyan on 26 conditions.

BNP is, however, taking preparation to arrange the mass gathering in front of its Nayapaltan central office as previously announced.

In this regard, member secretary of the party's media cell Shahid Uddin Anny said they sought permission for Nayapaltan, not for Suhrawardy Udyan.

Now the party's highest policy-making forum will decide about the letter sent by DMP, he added.

Member of the media cell Shayrul Kabir Khan said they do not want to hold the program at Suhrawardy Udyan.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police today permitted BNP to hold its rally at Suhrawardy Udyan from 12 pm to 4 pm on December 10 on 26 conditions.

The conditions include keeping all activities of the rally limited to Suhrawardy Udyan, installing CCTVs of improved resolution in and out of the venue, searching all vehicles at the rally through scanners in own management, and not using mike outside and adjacent areas of the program place.

BNP had announced to hold its Dhaka divisional mass rally on December 10 as part of its rallies in divisional cities seeking the party chief Khaleda Zia's unconditional release, election-time non-party impartial government, and protesting fuel prices hike, deaths, of leaders and activists by police, attack and false cases against them.
