Shawkat Mahmud on 4-day fresh remand

A court here on Tuesday placed BNP chairperson`s adviser and journalist leader Shawkat Mahmud on a four-day fresh remand in four cases of arson attacks filed with Paltan, Rampura and Motijheel police stations.

Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Masud Sheikh passed the order upon 10 days remand prayer in each of the four cases.

The court granted one day in each of the cases, on each with Paltan and Rampura police stations and two with Motijheel Police Station.

With the remand, Shawkat Mahmud has been put on 12 days remand in four phases after his arrest on August 18 from Samurai Convention Centre at Panthapath in the capital city. He has so far been shown arrested in 13 cases, court sources said.
